Roy Lamont
Founder

Roy Lamont

Founder

With over 35 years of experience in the glazing and construction industry in South Africa, Roy recognized a niche for a Canadian-owned and operated glass hardware company. Specifically, North America needed a company that recognized the importance of strong aesthetic design with the flexibility to respond and create unique products/solutions for specialized projects. Roy’s naturally creative instinct kicked in, and building on his background of various roles within the construction and glazing industry, he created Stella Custom Glass Hardware in 2001.

From Stella’s inception, his number one priority has been to form a collaborative and intelligent team committed to design and innovation that truly listens to the architect’s vision and pushes the design envelope to make it a reality.

Today, Roy is involved in projects at a conceptual stage, working collaboratively with architects, engineers, and glazing contractors, at the outset to create the framework for outstanding facade systems.

Andres Lopera
Director of Operations

Andres Lopera

Director of Operations

An Industrial Engineer with post degrees in International Business and Supply Chain management, Andres joined the Stella team with over 15 years’ experience in the Apparel and Chemical Sector. Andres demonstrates this wealth of knowledge everyday with his insights and continuous improvements as he heads up Stella’s supply chain and shop operations.

Stella is a great fit for Andres – “we create beautiful and custom glazing features, get to work on unique and iconic projects, and the internal culture of the company makes it all fun!”

Outside of Stella, Andres spends his time with friends and family enjoying cooking, working with his hands, and just being outside. His two young sons keep things fun as they too like to build things.

Andres secret talent may lie in his table tennis playing abilities – he has been the reigning champion of Stella’s monthly tournaments since he joined (until recently when the competition within the office has gotten significantly fiercer).

When asked if his preference is for tea or coffee, Andres simply replied “While I am from Colombia…”

Gabriel Pineda

Gabriel Pineda

Gabriel holds a Bachelor of Science and Chemistry, and a Bachelor of International Business – he completed both degrees concurrently during his four years at university. He then went on to obtain his MBA before moving to Canada from Honduras in 2003.

When Gabriel is not improving our customers’ experiences with Stella, you can find him near the water. He is an avid scuba diver and has been diving alongside his father since he was 14. His love of diving influenced his last job, where he was on the marketing team selling dive computers for scuba divers.

He is now teaching his own son the ins and outs of diving here in the cold waters of Canada.

Gabriel loves how down-to-earth everyone is at Stella, the sense of community that the team brings, and the balance between work and family life.

Gabriel’s favourite beverage of choice isn’t tea or coffee – he prefers just water!

Drafting, designing and previewing architectural drawings takes up most of the day for Ali, an Industrial CAD Technician at Stella.

From collaborating with clients to working on schematics, Ali makes sure that architects and engineers have the shop drawings and detailed documents they need for their glass projects.

Ali brings his architectural background from Iran to Stella, with 9 years of experience in medium to large scale projects from residential to heavy commercial. His favourite types of projects today are residential and vestibules.

Ali loves the team building at Stella and practicing his ping pong skills with his teammates. He has been diving into our in-house knowledge base – Stella University – to learn more about the intricacies of glass projects and their varying components.

When he is not designing, Ali loves paddleboarding around Vancouver and swimming in the local lakes. You’ll find him enjoying his favourite Persian food (kabab) and drinking his standard three to four cups of coffee a day.

Leo is making everything that was 2D, into 3D as Stella’s Revit Design Tech. By turning designs into 3D models, Leo has made it easier for clients to see where the challenges might be for the project, and exactly how Stella will implement solutions to bring their designs to life.

His first project at Stella was for the iconic UBC Museum of Anthropology as part of the team collaborating on the seismic restoration of this large structural glass wall, demonstrating how this renovation would be implemented.

With the 3D models he creates, Leo can show the clients where the issues might arise from electrical or mechanical issues, or where a clash in design principles might happen.

Leo loves a good team building activity and the work life balance that Stella brings.

When he is not at work, you can find him singing in his local choir, or staying active with his family swimming, biking, or walking. He also greatly enjoys taking photos of nature.

If you have a plant that is dying, you can depend on Leo and his gardening skills to bring it back to life. His favourite beverage is tea, or keeping it simple with decaf coffee.
