Translink Faregate Barriers

With the introduction of faregates to Greater Vancouver’s entire transportation system, partitions via a post to glass system were required at all existing LRT stations to prevent passengers from walking around the faregates.

In collaboration with the transit authority and contractors, we custom-designed a post system that met the following criteria:

• Adaptable – needed to be fitted at existing systems with varying flooring surfaces as well as have flexibility to meet various install angles
• Quick Install – posts had to be installed quickly at night when LRT system was closed to minimize distruption to riders
• Aesthetically Pleasing – a clean design was key
• Structural Loads – crush loads were a key engineering factor

Result – a custom post system created by Stella that has been in use for over a decade at all Metro Vancouver LRT stations as well as new ones that are built.
