Nathan Phillips Square Revitalization
Our parts were featured throughout this revitalization of this huge 12-acre civic space. Design goals balanced the original modernist design with new additions to support uses in all seasons.
The canopy was erected to create a permanent outdoor stage. The overall size of the canopy is huge – approximately 21 meters by 17 meters. We worked with our glazing partners on this project to ensure the spider canopy support worked well with the heavy steel structure.
For the balustrade portion of the project, the existing concrete up-stands were removed and replaced with laminated glass guards for a more open feel.
Standoffs bolted to the concrete walls support the cantilevered glass with custom bolts adapted to connect the wooden guardrail to the glass.
